Orange SFM’s Expedition and Exploration Services prepares remote film production teams, expedition operators, educational research teams and private expedition organizers for the unexpected.
Full Expedition Planning
Orange SFM’s Full Expedition Planning Services is a full service collaborative method that includes location research, itinerary creation, equipment list and logistics planning. Expeditions will be accompanied by a team leader and media personal as needed.
Example Project: In May 2016 our team was sent to Oaxaca Mexico to gather rare indigenous textiles. Over a month we researched different indigenous enclaves and used our team of global fixers to establish a list of artisans who are still making materials using ancient means. We compiled this information to create a tight itinerary that would allow us to achieve maximum productivity once we landed.
Expedition Media Support
Orange SFM’s Expedition Media Support team members work with your expedition team to fully document your project with world-class writing, film and photography services.
Example Project: In May 2017 our team did a 1,200 mile expedition through Tanzania, Rwanda and Uganda. Our central focus was traditional witchcraft and rituals. All of our research was filmed by a hot zone experienced film team. We used lighting, drones, and Osmos to give cinematic quality footage even under the direst circumstances.
Orange SFM’s Expedition Consulting team members work with your expedition team to research and advise on location, media and travel.
Example Project: For Travels Channel’s Booze Traveler show Justin Fornal was brought to Tanzania to work as a producer and fixer. This involved getting all permits, dealing with military and negotiating with local indigenous communities to allow filming.
Orange SFM provides full location and cultural research services for film/television production, educational research teams and corporate projects.
Example Project: Team member Justin Fornal has served extensively as a researcher for National Geographic. Recently he was tasked with seeking out and developing a collection of global stories for the Explorer series as well as National Geographic’s show about human evolution The Great Human Race. He currently is working on several breaking cultural interest stories for VICE Media.
